17th Annual Trunk or Treat Festival
Start Your Own Trunk or Treat Festival
Below are TIPS on how to start your own Trunk or Treat Festival
Talk with the local Fire and Police Departments. They have been an integral part of our festival each and every year and can help support such an event.
You will need to find a location large enough and safe enough for at least 20 trunks and parking for vehicles. The location should have good lighting and lots of room for walking and crowds of people.
We recommend having your Trunk or Treat Festival on Halloween evening. This has worked very well for us and our community over the past 10 years. Our Festival is from 4PM – 7PM.
Be sure to ask each Trunk to have at least 600-800 pieces of candy. You never know how many kids will come, but you want to be ready.
Our team offers FREE hot dogs and hot cider each and every year and this is a big hit. Think about asking a local food vendor to supply snacks to the trick or treaters and their families.
Feel free to use our Registration Form as a Template.
Create flyers and reach out to local businesses and schools for support. The more trunks and the more trick or treaters the better for everyone!
Keep it local. You want to try to only promote to the surrounding towns where the festival will be held. You do not want to have TOO many kids and not enough candy. The registered trunks can only support so many kids each year and still have a good time.
If you would like to speak with someone at our team who has been involved in this festival since the beginning, contact Theresa Townsend.
Thanks to your hosts the Wellfleet Drive-In and Theatre and the Wellfleet & Eastham Firefighters Relief Associations.
